Part 3 - Pinhole Solar Projection Observation


I built a pinhole solar projector as seen in the pictures below.

We had a beautiful sunny day in Broomfield, CO on Sunday February 26, 2023 at 11:17 AM. I took my Pinhole Projector out behind my home

and with my wife, Barbara, helping, I was able to capture these pictures of the sun. With the pieces of cardboard this far apart, the image of the sun on the paper was about 3/8-inch in diameter.

Below is today's professionally captured solar image. I might convince myself that the large sunspot is in the lower right part of my image of the sun. It is hard to tell because the blemish where the sunspot should be looks like other blemishes on the white paper.

Below is an eyepiece projection of the June 5, 2012 Venus Transit of the Sun. I used my 8" newtonian with a Baader filter over the front of the tube.
