Texas Star Party 2019
Lone Star Gazer Award

I am the 38th recipient of this award.
This is quite an honor and was surprised that
I was nominated. I was humbled to receive
this prestigeous award.

The Lone Star Gazer Award is awarded each year
at the Texas Star Party since its inception in 1982.
This award is for personal achievement,
accomplishment and expertise in the
field of Amateur Astronomy.

On Monday May 6, 2019, I received an email from Richard Nugent in which he said
"Mike…. Congratulations on receiving the TSP Lone Star Observers Award!
There was a big round of applause when your name was mentioned."

This was followed shortly after by an email from Scott Mitchell on May 6, 2019 where he stated
"Mike - as you may have heard already, you were the chosen recipient of the 2019 TSP Lone Star Gazer
award. Gary Carter gave an excellent background of your work to the assembled group in our
Saturday Night meeting. Congratulations! Gary accepted the award on your behalf.

Enjoyed your afternoon talk very much, btw.
