Texas Star Party 2019
Recipient of 2019 Lone Star Gazer Award
I received a certificate for my presentation. Richard Nugent said "I
thought your presentation was very good
and has lots of good information for observers. Your website is an excellent
resource for observers.
I think your talk would be better as an evening presentation to reach a larger
audience.
One more thing - you are an excellent speaker!".
How my 12.5", f/8 scope fits into my Pruis V.
Ready to head to west Texas and the Prude Ranch.
I stayed in a bunkhouse this year. it was very nice.
Had my own bunkbed and I shared the bathroom and shower in the room
with 2 other people. AND they didn't snore, a bonus.
I setup my scope on what is called the lower field. I had to deal with car's
headl;ights on the highway
in the background, but you hear them coming before you see their headlights.
I can then hide my eyes to keep them dark adapted.
Looking east on the lower field. I was setup on the far west end.
Ready to observe on Tuesday night. We had a clear night with very low relative humidity all night.
Proud TSP 2019 atendee.
Picture of the middle observing field.
Picture of the upper observing field.
Wednesday afternoon, a dust devil spun my scope around three times, turned
the tube
vertical and then knocked it over. This is how I found it about 7 PM.
The only damage is the bent and broken secondary spider holder. I can get that replaced.
The limb above the sidewalk to my bunkhouse. I found it in the dark Thursday morning when I was headed to bed.
I sold 6 books at the party.
How the sky looked when I left Thursday afternoon.
